TRAINER Ted Medhurst has always believed Stella Act would measure up once she got out to a suitable journey and in Hobart last Thursday night.
The well bred bitch delivered the goods in no uncertain terms over a more suitable middle distance trip to live up to her trainer’s expectations.
Stella Act led from box four and once in front she gave nothing else a chance on her way a six-length win over Princess Zara in a first-round heat of the popular Vets Medley series over 599 metres.
She stopped the clock at 34.49 which was clearly the fastest of the four heat winners.
The runner-up produced another game effort and Prince Solo ran on well from last on the turn to grab third.
Stella Act is no lightweight when it comes to the racing caper having won six of her 36 starts with 13 minor placings helping to take her career earnings to beyond $12,000.
She took a while to win her first race, a juvenile over 515m in Launceston but registered a string of minor placings to suggest it was only a matter of time before she found winning form.
Not long after her first win in December 2013 she was sidelined almost a year.
She returned to racing in January this year and has since notched three wins and six placings.
