The 2020 Steve King Ladies Bracelet Final over 515 metres, headlines a brilliant 10-race card of greyhound racing in Launceston on Monday night.
Two heats were staged last week where the two winners Hooked On Brenda and Rachael ran almost identical times of 30.11s and 30.12s respectively.
Both greyhounds led all the way from box five last week with Rachael retaining the yellow rug on Monday while Hooked On Brenda will jump from box three.
Rachael is owned and bred by Scottsdale’s Karlene Cuthbertson who purchased the brood bitch Flying Roswell from overseas for breeding, with Rachael being a part of the first litter by Barcia Bale.
The Butch Deverell-trained bitch has now won seven races with five of those wins coming on the Launceston track where she has a best time of 29.80s.
Hooked On Brenda is prepared by Ted Medhurst, with last week’s win being the Hooksy – Bambalam Bruce bitch third win on the Launceston track from four starts.
Punters have installed the talented Amy Cora as the early favourite from box eight, a box where she has had three starts from in the past for two wins and one placing.
The Debbie Cannan-trained bitch finished second in her heat behind Rachael after having to check off the heels of the winner in the run to the first corner when starting from box four.
Amy Cora has the best time on the Launceston track of any runner in the field, 29.48s that she recorded in March and the Barcia Bale – Pearl’s Legacy bitch has an excellent record on the track of five wins and two placings from 10 starts.
Another strong contender is Goodnight Vicki from box one, the same draw she began from in her heat when fourth after being sent out a $4.20 chance. She is from the Blake Pursell kennel who is also represented by Maddie Zorro who was 2.25 lengths behind Hooked On Brenda last week.
Lady Danger is another in contention according to the market after her second behind Hooked On Brenda in last week’s heat, that effort followed a win over the 600 metres the start prior on 31 August.
The race is named after 2013 Tasmanian Hall Of Fame Inductee Stephen King, who has been a great supporter of greyhound racing through the state in many roles including; race night vet, Tasmanian Greyhound Board member, Tasmanian Racing Authority representative and greyhound sponsor.
King’s contribution to racing was also recognised with Tasmanian harness racing’s highest honour the Edgar Tatlow Medal in 2019.
The Steve King Ladies Bracelet is set to be run at 21:32 with the first race to commence at 19:34.
