Storm Cell finally delivers second win

STORM CELL finally delivered on a promise to win another race when he came with a powerful finish to score in a blanket photo-finish at Tattersall’s Park inHobarttoday.

The Leon Wells-trained four-year-old had not won since winning a maiden at his first start inTasmaniaon his home track at Devonport in January.

But today the race was run to suit and rider Anthony Darmanin was able to time his run to perfection to score by a narrow margin from Steven’s Wonder with The Welshman a close-up third and just in advance of the favourite Len’s Luck.

Storm Cell was originally purchased for $42,500 at a weanling sale in June 2009 and later on-sold at the 2010 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for $200,000.

The gelding was trained by Peter Moody at Caulfield for whom he had seven starts for two minor placings on country tracks.

Instead of moving him on connections sent him to Wells who believes there are still m ore wins left in the gelded son of Fastnet Rock from the Thunder Gulch mare Storm Fille.
