SPREYTON trainer Adam Trinder hailed his handy wet track stayer Sun Disk a marvel after he scored an effortless win in a Benchmark 82 Handicap over 2100 metres at UBET Park Hobart today.
With apprentice Boris Thornton aboard, Sun Disk settled midfield and when asked to improve 800 metres out he gradually crept into the race.
When called on for the big effort at the top of the straight Sun Disk stormed to the lead and went on to win comfortably from John Blacker’s gallant three-year-old filly Into The Wind with Spotluck a distant third.
It was Sun Disk’s third win on the track from his past five starts and he was coming off a last-start fourth in Victoria when he was a game fourth at Ballarat.
Sun Disk has earned a reputation as a mudlark and is especially good in those conditions over distances ranging from 2000 -2400 metres.
Listen to what trainer Adam Trinder had to say about Sun Disk’s latest win.
