TALENTED harness racing trainer Heath Szczypka believes his last-start Hobart winner Sunrise Lady has the potential to win multiple races this preparation.
Sunrise Lady notched her first win for the stable when she came from well back in the run to score impressively in the Northern Brewer Stakes over 2090 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last Sunday night.
It was the four-year-old mare’s second career win from only her third start for Szczypka.
She was formerly trained by Marc Butler who prepared her to win one race, the Craig Hansen 3YO Stakes, in Hobart in June last year just prior to him clearing all outside horses from his Lachlan stable.
Szczypka was well acquainted with the mare’s owners, Paul Turner and Cheryl Scott so Sunrise Lady made her way to his Underwood training complex in the north of the state.
The mare was driven to her latest victory by Todd Rattray who opted not to get into the three-wide line from his one-out-one-back position at the bell.
But Rattray’s judgment was proven right as he was able to secure a run tuning for home and when the mare gained clean air in the home straight she sprinted quickly and went on to score by 1.3 metres from Clyde Maguire with Packedtotherafters almost a metres astern.
