PROMISING stayer Keukenhof will have his final hit-out for next week’s Betfair Launceston Cup in the Sydeston Night Cup over 2100 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight.
Keukenhof is prepared at Longford by Troy Blacker who set the gelding for this year’s Launceston Cup back in September.
The gelding has progressed as planned although Blacker had expected him to win at his most recent outing when third to Ollie’s Gold in a Benchmark 82 Handicap over 2100m in Launceston on January 28.
He bypassed the Hobart Cup to concentrate on the Launceston Cup and the outcome of tonight’s race will most likely determine whether or not he pushes on to the big race next Wednesday.
Extra interest has been added to the Night Cup with the inclusion of the Graeme McCulloch and David Keating-trained three-year-old Valdez in the field of 10.
Valdez comes off a game third in the Tasmanian Derby on February 6 and four starts back he was a winner of a BM62 over 1600m in Launceston.
