In Brief
- Trainer confident Tah Matt is the one to beat.
- Box six appears to be a positive.
- Outlaw Teddy another strong winning chance.
Anthony Bullock has a big representation at tonight’s Hobart card led by the inform Tah Matt, set to go around in race five, the Jared Davies Carpentry & Maintenance Final over 461 metres.
Winner at nine of his 17 starts, Tah Matt, a son of Fabregas and Snoring Nora, made it three wins on the trot last Thursday when landing his heat in a dashing 25.97.
“He should be very hard to beat tonight the way they’re drawn,” said Bullock.
“Box six looks perfect for him and the other early speed Wind Waker stays off and is drawn outside him. He’s just gone from strength-to-strength this dog … he’s turning out to be more than handy for me.”
In a quality fifth grade final, Tah Matt is currently the $2.50 favourite with Ladbrokes, just ahead of 26.06 heat winner Wynburn Babe at $2.70 from box one for trainer Ben Englund.
“I think she’s a false second favourite from the inside box if that makes sense,” Bullock said. “I don’t think she can beat home my dog the way they are drawn.”
Also in the market for tonight’s final is another Engund-trained runner Wynburn Gold from box eight at $4.80.
Third to Tah Matt in last week’s heats, the daughter of Dyna Double One went around in Launceston on Monday night when downed at short odds.
With a plethora of runners engaged at tonight’s 10-race Hobart meeting, Bullock is steering punters towards Outlaw Teddy in race four over 599 metres as one of his better chances.
$2.25 with Ladbrokes, the son of Kinloch Brae holds favouritism over kennelmate Definite Signs at $2.80.
“I think Outlaw Teddy will lead and grab a break down the back and hold on,” Bullock said.
“I’d say he and Tah Matt are my two best tonight. I’ve got a really good group of dogs at the moment, so the plan is to make a trip to Victoria with them soon.
“When you’ve got a few going well you can make it worthwhile.”
