Tasmanian buyers spent $378,000 on 15 yearlings at the Australian Pacing Gold (APG) in Melbourne on 1 February and they were out in force again at the Sydney edition on 28 February parting with $265,000 for nine yearlings.
Mick Maxfield led the charge in Sydney with three purchases. He paid $35,000 for a Mach Three – Boldandbeautiful filly, $55,000 for a Rock N Roll Heaven – Lets Thank Heaven colt and $36,000 for a Western Ideal – Precious Delight colt.
Barrie Rattray acquired two yearlings at the Melbourne sale and did likewise in Sydney.
A Rock N Roll Heaven – As It Is In Heaven colt reached $17,000 and a Mach Three – Kit Star colt cost $21,000.
Prominent owner Barry Cooper paid $31,000 for a Changeover – Glenferrie Miss colt and $11,000 for a Rock N Roll Heaven – Same Action filly. Athol Bennett went to $33,000 for a Mach Three – Rosalind colt and a Courage Under Fire – Quiet Talker colt was knocked down to Marc Panton for $26,000.
Combining the Melbourne and Sydney sales, Tasmanian owners paid $643,000 for 24 yearlings at an average of $26,792.
