TWO of Tasmania’s most talented greyhounds Jethro and Bel Haven will tackle one of the most prestigious staying events in Australia at Sandown Park tonight.

Litter siblings Jethro and Bel Haven will line up in the Group 2 Bold Trease over 715 metres and both are rate each-way chances but the nation’s best stayer Miata could again prove to be their stumbling block.

Bel Haven (Head Bound-It’s A She) made her way into the Bold Trease final by finishing a game second to Miata in their heat last week, although Miata scored by 8-1/2 lengths and stopped the clock at 41.72 seconds.

Jethro won his heat and ran the journey in 41.93 and he did that by leading all the way for trainer Kel Greenough who took over the training of the dog after he finished on the heels of Miata in the National Distance Championship held in Hobart in mid August.

Brighton trainer Ted Medhurst prepares Bel Haven and he has made no secret of the fact that he rates Bel Haven the best stayer he has ever trained.

Jethro will start from box six while Bel Haven will wear the blue vest with the race favourite Miata well drawn in box two.

The race is scheduled to start at 8.55 pm (AEST) and can been seen live on Sky 1.
