For the first time since 1987, Tasmanian bred pacers won the Tasmania Cup, Tasmanian Derby and Tasmanian Oaks in the same year after the wins of Ryley Major, Micton Mouse and A Spanish Dance on the states premier race night in Hobart on Saturday night.

Sunday in Devonport Ben Yole notched up a milestone for the season.

This week we race in Burnie on Friday and Launceston on Sunday evening, these meetings will be closed to the general public as a result of the COVID-19 virus, for further updated details on this please keep an eye on tasracingcorporate.com.au.

The Stars

Ryley Major – continued his dominance when he took out the states premier race, the Group 2 Ladbrokes Tasmania Cup on Saturday night. The gelded son of Art Major worked forward to find the lead mid-race and was too good for his rivals late. The win was the 28th victory in a 39-start career with prize money earnings exceeding $260,000. Hillier indicated post-race that the star pacer will miss next month’s Easter Cup instead deciding to give the pacer a spell.

Micton Mouse wins the Tasmanian Derby in Hobart on 14 March.

Micton Mouse – became the third Tasbred pacer to win the Carlton Draught Tasmanian Derby in the past 30-years when he led all the way to score in the Group 3 race. It was the third career win at start nine for the John “Bulldog” Nicholson trained pacer who was driven by his son Rhys.

A Spanish Dance – has found a new lease on life since joining the Marc Butler stable winning four of her five starts since arriving in his barn. Her latest win was in the Group 3 Tasmanian Equine Veterinary Services Tasmanian Oaks on Saturday where she justified her short quote, scoring by 13.3 metres.

Shesa Tricky Bridge – three starts ago the daughter of Stonebridge Regal won a claiming race at Warragul. Last Saturday she won the states premier mares race, the Tasmanian Trotting Club George Johnson, it was the first win in the race for both her trainer Adrian Duggan and his brother, and driver Ricky Duggan in the $20,000 race.

Ben Yole – notched up a century of wins for the season after having a night out in Devonport on Sunday with a training quartet. It is the fifth consecutive season that he has achieved the feat. Yole ended the night with 102 wins for the season with 92 of those wins in Tasmania.
