It was an actioned packed meeting in Hobart on Sunday night where punters had a mixed night where several winners were well found while there was a few knock out blows during the meeting.
Trainer Ben Yole hit triple figures for the season while Tiarna Ford won her first race in the sulky in the night’s feature race, the L.H.T Cup with Belle Of Brooklyn.
This week we have a 10-race card in Launceston, featuring the $12,000 Launceston Mile.
The Stars
Ben Yole – became the first trainer in Australia to prepare 100 winners of the season after a training treble in Hobart on Sunday night. The trainer was made to wait to reach the milestone, with the three wins required coming in the final three races with The Black Assassin, My Ultimate Romeo and Southern Gnp. It is the sixth straight season Yole has reached triple figures in a season.
Tiarna Ford – had her first race drive several weeks ago, and she notched up her first driving win in the feature race of the night, the L.H.T Cup aboard Belle Of Brooklyn who is trained by her mother Tammy Langley, Ford drove a patient race on the pegs before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight to score.
Dylan Ford – was the standout driver on the 11-race card with a driving treble, to take his career total of wins past 200. While Dylan’s talents were no doubt a big help to his horse’s chances, the trainers of his treble must be acknowledged for their efforts. Greg Scott prepared Abs Boy to the pacers first win since September 2018. Tammy Langley continued her good form with Stone Cracker, while Reign Of Pain took out the open class race of the night for trainer Heath Szczypka.
Jack James – is a three-year-old gelded son of Sutter Hanover who recorded back-to-back wins on Sunday. Reinsman Ricky Duggan gave the Juanita McKenzie trained pacer a lovely run behind the leader before the pacer flew home along the sprint lane to score.
Jordan Leedham – is a Tasmanian born driver who has been doing a great job in Victoria since he commenced his driving career. On Saturday at Melton, he was able to win his first metropolitan race at his first metropolitan drive on Boy From Bondi. Jordan’s great-uncle is Stan Leedham owner of 1966 Inter Dominion winner Chamfer Star.

Trial File
Hobart – Monday evening
Two trials were held, with both trials being won by horses who were able to find the lead.
I Am Excalibur, a two-year-old gelded son of Falcon Seelster for trainer Deb Williams was able to find the lead near the 1200 metre point to go on and score a 3.8-metre win in 2m 11.7s.
Bettors Delight mare Elita was restrained from her wide draw to settle in fifth spot before working around the field to find the lead at the bell.
She scored by 3.6 metres in 2m 4.0s.
Devonport – Monday evening
Courage Under Fire gelding Kivik recorded the quickest mile rate of the six trial session when winning a rating 56 to 71 trial over 1930 metres.
The Rachel Willams pacer stopped the clock in a handy 2m 0.1s for 1930 metres.
Steven Davis worked forward from a wide draw to settle behind the lead at the 1450 metre point before peeling off the back of the leader at the 400-metre point to score, under a stronghold, by a head margin.
Other winners included; Jimi Sanz (2m 3.4s), Snowball Jaxon (2m 9.7s), Rocknroll Odyssey 2m 3.8s), Always A Stride (2m 2.6s) and Deadly Assassin (2m 7.0s).
Week Ahead
Saturday: We kick off the day with trials being held at Carrick Park from 9:00 am.
At Melton of local interest, we see Max Delight in the Free For All drawn barrier two.
Tasmanian bred pacer Micton Mouse will contest a rating 69 to 78 event where he has drawn barrier two on the second row and will be driven by Taylor Ford.
Former Tasmanian trainer Dylan Marshall puts the polish on two runners in the Group 1 Group 1 APG Gold Bullion Final two-year-olds colts and geldings final with Racing Time and Classically Smooth.
Sunday: Launceston is the venue for a 10-race card from 5:12 pm.
The feature race is the Bevan Lee’s Butchery Golden Mile, where many runners from the Launceston Mile clash again.
