TASMANIAN pacers will take pride of place at Melton today where the Australasian Breeders Crown series concludes with finals in all age groups and divisions.
Pachacuti (Race 5 # 11) finished second to Bit Of A Legend in the 3YO final last year and both are leading contenders for the $100,000 4YO Entires and Geldings Final.
Pachacuti has drawn near the outside of the second row but provided driver Todd Rattray can find away to present him for a final sprint he looms as a chance to defeat the favourite Bit Of Legend (13) that proved to be Pachacuti’s nemesis in the 3YO version last season.
Star Tasmanian filly Barynya has drawn the inside of the second row (8) in the 3YO fillies final (race 8).
However it is the same barrier she drew in the $150,000 Victorian Oaks that she won earlier this season.
The Dick eaves-trained filly only needs an ounce of luck to figure in the finish of the $213,000 3YO Fillies Final.
Spitfire Rose (R1) was scratched from he $100,000 4YO Mares Final.
Boasson Hagen (R9 N2) was the first emergency for the $297,000 2YO Colts and Geldings Final but he made the trip worthwhile by winning the Consolation final at Melton last Friday night.
However, Tasmania has an interest in the 2YO C&G final with Mojo Major (# 3) that is part-owned by Page Ashwood and her son Alex Ashwood will take the drive and Birdy Mach (# 8) was bred by prominent Tasmanian standardbred breeders Fred and Pauline Barker.
