THE 2010 Tasmanian harness racing Premier Yearling Sale boasts a draft of 42 to be offered by Davidson Cameron Board and Simmons at the Inveresk Showground, Launceston on Saturday, January 16.

The sale features the progeny of 20 stallions including yearlings by last season’s top four juvenile sires – Art Major, Grinfromeartoear, Modern Art and Blissfull Hall.

Real Desire, North America’s leading sire of 1:53 two-year-olds in 2008, will be represented for the first time at a yearling sale in Australia.

Adding further interest to the sale will be the first crops of the Messenger Pace winner Metropolitan, Armbro Deuce and the Tasmanian sire J R Mint and a filly by one of the world’s leading sires, Bettor’s Delight.

Of the 42 dams represented, 25 are race winners and 21 are winner producers. They have left 45 winners including 12 in 2:00 and the winners of 213 races between them.

Kirra Point, winner of the Cadbury Sweepstakes, the Evicus Stakes winner Carla Ross, El Jays Belle (The Belmont), Im In Chains 1:57.8, Our Heritage 1:59 and Lady Lucy 1:59.2 are just some of the good race mares with progeny listed in the catalogue.

No less than 23 lots are eligible for the rich Australian Pacing Gold sale-race series.

The sale has attracted strong support from many of Tasmania’s leading breeders.

Interstate buyers will be eligible for a $300 travel rebate for every horse purchased that will travel back to the mainland.

The action will kick off with a yearling parade at 10am. The sale is scheduled for 12 noon.
