Both wearing the now famous yellow, black and red colours, these two from Bill Ryan’s Longford stable both made their mark in Tasmania winning feature races before finishing their respective careers with Robert Smerdon at Caulfield.

Genuine Lad didn’t have an overly long career, retiring with just 28 starts to his name. Undoubtedly his best season came in 2014/15 when narrow second placings in the Devonport and Hobart Cups were turned around with a win in the Group 3 Launceston Cup where he led home a Tasmanian trifecta. He followed that result with another open handicap win before he was transferred to Victoria where the wins proved hard to come by. His best result while racing in Victoria was a third in the 2015 Group 3 Naturalism over 2000m.
Iggimacool
- Bay Mare
- 34 starts
- 9 wins
- 7 minor placings
- $461,775 prizemoney
- First start: March 2013
- Trainer: Bill Ryan
The mare was more versatile than her one time stablemate, having enough speed to finish 5th in a Newmarket before that preparation culminated with another 5th in the Launceston Cup won by Genuine Lad. She was a dominant winner in the Tasmanian Oaks as a 3YO, but arguably her best result came as a 4YO when she won the Listed Tasmanian Stakes taking on the males. Three of her nine career wins came when she moved across Bass Strait, the peak being the Listed Winter Championship over a mile at Flemington in 2016.
