TASMANIA’S star gallopers will come out to play at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday with two of the state’s best to line up in their respective races.

Geegees Blackflash is just $4450 short of earning $1 million in prize money and first or second in the Brighton Cup, a quality handicap over 2100m, will give the champ the magical million and create a record that might stand the test of time.

All of Geegees Blackflash’s prize money has been won in Tasmania.

And Tasmania’s star two-year-old from last season Admiral bounced back to the winner’s circle last start with an emphatic win in the 3YO Trophy over `1400m in Launceston in which he gave a star-studded field a towelling scoring by four lengths without being pushed right out.

Admiral steps up to the 1600 metres for the first time in the $100,000 Tasmanian Guineas and if he treats his rivals with contempt, as his trainer is hoping he will, then he will more than likely be aimed at the $100,000 weight-for-age Thomas Lyons over 1400 metres on Hobart Cup day (February 09).

The opening day of the Betfair Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival is blessed to have two such star gallopers competing on Sunday.

The first race is scheduled to start at noon with the last (race 9) set to go at 4.55.

The Brighton Cup is race six on the card at 3.01 and the Tasmanian Guineas is race seven on the program due to start at 3.38.
