20 / 01 / 2011 Article by: Editor

TASRACING’S website tasracing.com.au has ended its first year of existence with a bang, recording its five millionth hit midway through December last year.

The site’s popularity has been measured by the steady growth in the number of unique visitors to the site which has gone from 8000 a month in January 2010 to over 11,000 a month at the end of last year.

Those figures have continued to grow in 2011 with almost 400,000 hits so far this month compared to 423,000 hits for the entire month last year.

Australians are logging onto tasracing.com.au at all hours of the day with prime viewing times being between 11am to 2pm and from 6pm to 11pm daily.

But overseas readers also have taken a shine to Tasmanian racing with multiple visits each day from readers in the UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Singapore and Russia, to name just a few.

Audio files have proven popular with readers gorging themselves on what trainers, jockeys, drivers and owners have to say after experiencing the joys of winning a race in Tasmania or what trainers have to say in race previews with Peter Staples.

Tasracing.com.au is moving forward with proposed changes to the home page. Feature additions to the content are likely to be released next month.
