Nine races are scheduled for decision at Tattersall’s Park on Sunday night. Field sizes are a bit light on compared to recent weeks but all races appear to have multiple winning chances.
Breathing Fire (R2 N6) is a tough six year old mare that looks well suited off the front line and back in mares company. Her last three starts have been from second row draws and include a good third to Jaruzelski Leis and Kiwi Joe two starts back at Launceston on 31 July. This race is much easier.
Daytime Jerry (R4 N10) is having his second run back from a seven month spell and was placed at three of his four starts prior to the break. The horses he finished second to, Outback Mach, Magnificantcamelot and Maybe Doc, have gone on to win better races.
Daytime Jerry raced out of class at Hobart on 7 August when sixth and beaten 4.3 metres by Emmas Hope. Sunday night’s race is easier being a C0 restricted to four year old and older pacers.
In the same race, Pure Wish (R4 N7) is having its first trip to the races for trainer/driver Chris Howlett. A four year old mare, Pure Wish is by Righteous Hanover out of the unraced mare Sinba (by Torado Hanover). S inba has produced 11 foals, four have raced and three are winners. The only multiple winner is Sinfull Angel (seven wins).
Pure Wish may be a winning chance first up following a trial victory by six metres at Hobart on 8 August. Prior to that, Pure Wish was narrowly beaten by Its A Hoot in good time at the Hobart trials on 27 July.
Flight To Mikinos (R8 N6) returns from a 12 month spell. Before the break, Flight To Mikinos won two of its last three starts when trained by Marc Butler. Greg Scott from Gagebrook is the new trainer. Flight To Mikinos trialed well at Hobart on 8 August when second to Grizz Wylie in quick time.
All nine races will be on Sky 1.
