PROMISING three-year-old pacer Udoit scored the best win of his career when he outgunned a quality field in the $20,000 V75 3YO Championship at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Sunday night.
Udoit came from well back to score in the last stride over Maggie Kennedy with Dieberdon a close-up third.
The field boasted many of the state’s best three-year-olds and the race formed part of a super card on what was the second night of the Tasmanian Summer Harness Carnival.
It was a deserved win for part-owner Mick Jones who has raced some handy juveniles and won some nice races but a $20,000 championship rates as one of his most enjoyable.
“It’s great to win any race but it is especially nice when it is a feature worth $20, 000,” Jones said.
The $12,000 winner’s cheque represented over one third of what the gelding had already won in almost two seasons.
The race was run at a solid tempo that was set by the filly Elle Jasper that led until the home turn.
Udoit is not an easy horse to train and Jones heaped praise on the prowess of trainer Eric Jacobson.
