TOP jockey Kelvin Sanderson had plenty of reason to celebrate today after his wife Belinda gave birth to their first child at the BendigoDistrictHospital in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Angus John Sanderson was born at 1.10 am and weight in at six pound and 11 ounces.
“This is probably the greatest day of my life,” Sanderson said.
“The baby and my wife are both well and I feel on top of the world,” he said.
Sanderson, whose nickname is The Iceman because he is cool under pressure, admitted the 12 hours leading up to the birth of his son had him on edge.
“I’ll be back in Tassie to ride on Sunday and again next Thursday but I’ll be heading home the same day because Belinda and the baby will be home by then,” he said.
Sanderson has eight rides on the 10-event card in Hobart on Sunday.
