NOT in the history of racing at the UBET Racing Centre in Launceston has one family dominated like it did on Wednesday night.

The Thornton clan from Victoria have been a part of the Tasmanian thoroughbred racing scene for about two years.

Firstly through apprentice Boris Thornton who made a name for himself when he rode five winners on an eight-race program in Launceston in April last year.

His older brother Damien followed him to Tasmania and he too has enjoyed his share of success and this season their younger sister Stephanie, who is a very talented equestrian rider at national level, got with the Tassie program.

Last night all three rode winners with Stephanie the stand-out with a double while their father Glenn Thornton, who trains a small team at Geelong in Victoria, prepared Stephanie’s second winner Super Daph.

Boris partnered Blaze Forth to victory in the $50,000 3YO Magic Millions Classic for John Blacker while Damien guided the three-year-old’s stablemate Smoke ‘N’ Whisky to a game win in the $20,000 Sydeston Night Cup (2100M) to earn ballot-free entry into next Wednesday’s Launceston Cup .

Stephanie’s other winner was Dillon Hall for Gary White who also intends accepting with the horse for the Launceston Cup.
