TALENTED jockey Remi Tremsal endured arguably the longest run of outs of his career this season but the Frenchman was back to his best in Hobart on Sunday.
Tremsal partnered the Andrew Roach-trained Thirsty Merc to a convincing win in the 9/11 Bottleshops 3YO and Up Maiden over 1100 metres.
It was a welcome change of luck for both horse and rider.
Tremsal urged his charge to find the lead and once in front he rated the gelding superbly and when they hit the home turn Thirsty Merc ($4.10) kicked clear and went on top score by two lengths from Turf Predator with the favourite Astraphobic ($2.20) a half-length astern.
The trainer was thrilled for both horse and rider.
“I’ve stuck with Remi because he is a very talented jockey who has had a run of outs but it was bound to turn around – it always does with good riders,” Roach said.
