VETERAN trainer Tommy Young will be out to win his second Tasmanian Guineas in the New Year with his talented three-year-old Tiger Won’t Tell.

The Hold That Tiger gelding enhanced his trainer’s chances of achieving the goal with a narrow but impressive win in the Harvey Norman Cambridge Park 3YO handicap over 1400 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.

It also was a belated birthday present for Young who turned 74 the day before.

Tiger Won’t Tell (Kelvin Sanderson) settled worse than midfield and made his run from beyond the half-way mark.

Sanderson had the gelding three and four-wide down the back stretch and he was the widest on the home turn but when the rider called on the gelding for the supreme effort 200m out he knuckled down to his task.

Tiger Won’t Tell moved alongside Getitdone and Seeking Chie that was making ground along the rails.

There was just a margin in favour of Tiger Won’t Tell over Getitdone with Seeking Chi doing her best work over the final 100 metres.

Tiger Won’t Tell broke his maiden status in Launceston three starts earlier in similar fashion to how he won this race.

Young knows what it takes to win a Tasmanian Guineas, having been successful in 2003 with Brainpower.
