WHEN three-year-old pacer Tipnroll arrived in trainer Steve Lukac’s stables from Queensland early this year he was expected to have a couple of runs and be placed on the market for $5000.
At his fifth start he won a C0 in Hobart after which Lukac told all and sundry that he was for sale and that the owner might even consider accepting $4000.
But with no takers and the horse in winning form connections opted to take the sale tag off the gelded son of Village Jasper.
Two subsequent fourths were encouraging efforts and at Tattersall’s Park on Monday night Tipnroll ended his three-year-old campaign with another impressive win.
“That’s enough for him. he’ll go to the paddock with his two three-year-old wins under his belt and we’ll bring him back in the late spring,” Lukac said.
“The horse has done a terrific job and while he isn’t blessed with above average ability he has gate speed and he never leaves anything in the tank in his races.”
“He just tries real hard all the time and you can’t ask for more from a horse,” he said.
