LIGHTLY raced filly Tough Customer delivered on a promise she made after finishing a game second on debut when she won a maiden at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.

Tough Customer (Tough Speed-Born To Shop) debuted with a second to Unoaked in Hobart in late May but after that effort she travelled to Launceston only to be scratched on race d ay as a result of becoming unsettled at the barriers.

But with the aid of a brow band roll to help prevent her from rearing and a barrier blanket she overcame all the little obstacles and delivered the goods like a true professional.

With Shuji Amano aboard, the filly showed good speed to be near the lead with Cinnamona and in the home straight she lived up to her name and went on to defeat Cinamona by a long head with Sting’em a distant third.

Tough Customer is trained by Alec Harper who also bred the filly.
