VICTORIAN owner Joe Buttigieg has had much success with harness racing horses he has purchased from New Zealand with the latest to show promise being four-year-old Pay Me Bro

The full brother to Pay Me Christian made his Tasmanian debut at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last Sunday night and made his rivals look ordinary as he strolled to an effortless win in a C0, scoring by over 24 metres from Villify with Top Memories over four metres away third.

There have been few easier or more impressive wins on the Hobart circuit this year and the gelding’s trainer Craig Toulmin is confident the gelding has what it takes to go all the way.

Toulmin partnered the son of Christian Cullen-Pay Me Tu and had him settled near the rear of the field early from his wide front row draw.

But midrace Toulmin sent his charge around the field and quickly crossed the leader to take control.

When he released the brakes leaving the back straight the last time Pay Me Bro left his rivals in his wake.

It was the second leg of a winning double fort the Buttigieg-Toulmin combination as they scored in the previous race with Baroda Bandito, a five-year-old that has been a good spinner for the owner.

Baroda Bandito led and booted clear turning for home but was almost run down by Luke Peter in the closing stages.
