TASMANIAN greyhound racing lost one of its mega stars in Hobart last night when the Butch Deverell-trained Big Moose fractured a hock while contesting the Wally Lake Memorial.

Big Moose, the winner of 50 races and 21 minor placings from 86 career starts for over $170,000 in stakes, was being prepared for the upcoming Hobart Thousand series.

Trainer Butch Deverell took the dog to his North-WestCoast veterinarian today for diagnosis and while the dog’s racing career is definitely over, the “Moose” is expected to make a full recovery and embark on a stud career.
