SPREYTON trainer Adam Trinder will saddle up strong winning chances in five of the eight races on his home track today but he has singled out last-start placegetter Fund Trader as his the best winning hope.
Fund Trader will line up in race seven, a benchmark 72 event over 1650 metres that boasts a string line-up with very little separating the top six in the market.
“Fund Trader ran a really good race behind his stablemate Hollywood Gothic two weeks ago when he didn’t have any luck go his way at his first run for the stable,” Trinder said.
“I expect a hot speed in the race so with an experienced rider aboard (Brendon McCoull) I would expect him to find a spot just off the pace and if that all pans out I would be very disappointed if he didn’t get the money.”
“His trackwork has been excellent and he has definitely come on since his first run for me,” he said.
Trinder also expects a forward showing from his first-starter Jerilderie Letter in race two which is a three-year-old and upward maiden over 1000 metres.
Jerilderie Letter (Bushranger-Pirate’s Sirene) is a half-brother to Trinder’s talented mare California Wish.
“Jerilderie Letter has been in the system for a while but he’s been a very slow comer but we’ve been prepared to take our time with him and he comes off a good enough trial to suggest he can figure on debut,” he said.
“I expect Jerilderie Letter to eventual get out to a mile (1600m) so whatever he does over these short distances should hold him in good stead for the longer distances,” he said.
Trinder also holds the key to race six, a benchmark 62 handicap over 1350 metres in which he saddles up last-start winner Hollywood Gothic and Lake Fergus that won at his first two outings this time in before finishing third last start.
