Spreyton trainer Adam Trinder has a strong team heading to the meeting in Launceston on Wednesday night with Dusty Joe in race 5 over 2150m one of his best winning chances along with handy mare Our Shinkansen in a class one handicap over 1220m.
Trinder rates Dusty Joe his best but he won’t be surprised if he snares more than one winner.
“Dusty Joe looks to be my best winning chance on Wednesday night. He had no luck in an atrociously-run race last start over 2100m, yet he still hit the line with good enthusiasm to run second,” Trinder said.
“On Wednesday night the race maps quite simplistically, so he should be able to dictate and lead or sit outside the leader and hopefully be too good for them,” Trinder said.
“Our Shinkansen should appreciate stepping back to 1200m and with Brendon McCoull on, I expect her to be very competitive.
“The 1400-metre race last start was not ideal but I had that race or 1200m in Hobart, but I was keen to have another look at how the Hobart track is plying before I expose my team on it.
“That said, we gave her the opportunity over seven furlongs (1400m) and in fairness she probably didn’t appreciate the ground (Soft 6).
“But back to 1200m and with Brendon McCoull jumping on I would expect her to be very competitive.”
Trinder saddles up Supalopo and The Risk Factor in the 1420-metre maiden and both have drawn outside gates.
“My two in the 1420-metre maiden have drawn poorly but I would think that if Supalopo can overcome that wide gate he will be hard to beat because he carries good form into the race.
“The Risk factor has drawn even wider (11) and he is a horse with a big action, and should he finish top five I would say he’d done enough.”
Mystic Beau tackles race one but Trinder said there would need to be a lot of improvement if she is to shine on the night.
The nine-race card kicks off with a maiden over 1420m at 17:25 with the last, a benchmark 74 handicap over 1620m, scheduled to start at 22:00.
