LONGFORD trainer Mick Burles has always believed Triple Bee to be a potential weight-forage campaigner and while he has only recently broken his maiden status he remains upbeat about the gelding’s future.
In Launceston on Sunday the three-year-old gets his chance to notch another win, this time in a class one handicap over 1400 metres.
Brendon McCoull takes the ride and from barrier four the gelded son of Incumbent should enjoy the run of the race.
He won first-up with McCoull aboard and followed up with a fourth and a second before finishing well down the track at Devonport in a class one handicap won by Private Currency.
But the gelding bounced back with a game second to Aventador in Launceston last Saturday with three kilogram-claiming apprentice Melissa Nicholls aboard.
“The horse has pulled up well from last Saturday’s run so I expect him to be very competitive in a similar race to last week,” Burles said.
It is not as strong a class one compared to what he contested last time, although there are a few with good enough form to win the race.
Lake Fergus shows a lot of potential and he will be further improved by his most recent outing when fourth in a BM68 on his home track at Devonport behind Crystal Reef.
Geegees Drummerboy was third to Aventador and Triple Bee last week so he only needs to take that form into the race to be an each-way hope while Grey Hype and Allgone are likely improvers.
