In Brief
- Last start in Tassie a winner for Brunton's mare.
- Vamos Stakes placegetter being sold aa potential broodmare.
- I Remember You might have one more start in Melbourne before heading to the breeding barn.
Talented mare I Remember You ended her Tasmanian racing career with a win in Launceston on Saturday night.
The Scott Brunton-trained mare is stakes placed (Vamos Stakes) which is why the mare’s owners have opted to put her through a sale ring for broodmares.
After delivering her best effort this campaign, Brunton conformed the mare would travel to Melbourne and be placed in an auction and he is confident she will reach her reserve price.
I Remember You settled midfield and always looked to be poised to strike and when apprentice Kyle Maskiell aimed her to the middle of the track at the top of the straight, she quickly hauled in the leaders and went on to score by 1-1/2 lengths from Perfect Award with Silkstone a half-length astern.
I Remember You was having her third start this preparation and came off two unplaced efforts on the synthetic in Devonport, which is not her preferred surface, but served as good conditioning runs for this latest assignment.
The mare might have one more start in Melbourne before going under the hammer.
“I have no doubt this mare will reach her reserve because she is stakes placed and is very well bred,” Brunton said.
“It’s great to see her win again because on her day she is very good, and she has done a great job for her owners.”
The mare began her career in Queensland and arrived at Brunton’s stable in late 2018.
She won at her first two starts in Tasmania and at her third outing she placed third in the Group 3 Vamos Stakes followed by a win at Sandown at her first trip to Melbourne.
