A DECISION  to persevere with three-year-old filly Vision Touch paid dividends for Sheffield trainer Angela Brakey in Hobart on Sunday.

Brakey was expecting the filly to shine as a two-year-old but she was small and didn’t cope with the amount of work required to get her to the races.

She was sent for a spell without tackling a 2YO race but when she returned this season her attitude had changed and Brakey set about trying to win a maiden.

On Sunday she showed tremendous speed to lead and she was never headed on her way to a two-length win over To Dear To Run with the well-backed Porus a short neck away third and just ahead of El Boliche.

Brakey was thrilled with the win.

“This win has been a long time in the making,” Brakey said.”

“We were hoping she’d go at two but she didn’t cope and she was so small we had to tip her out to grow and hopefully mature a bit.”

“We are confident she will develop into a good horse but at the moment we are just taking small steps,” she said.

The filly was well ridden by apprentice Chantal Willis.

“She is a nice filly with tremendous early speed and if she can get that sort of run where she can lead and slot into her comfort zone she is going to be hard to beat,” Willis said.
