THE connections of well-bred mare Vow Of Silence were upbeat about the four-year-old’s immediate future following her impressive win in a maiden in Launceston last Sunday.

Vow Of Silence (Keep The Faith-Diamond Orchid) was having only her second start in the state having placed second on her home track at Spreyton leading up to last Sunday’s assignment.

The former Victorian mare showed good speed to lead and then shared the front with two others to the home turn where she was given more rein by jockey Kelvin Sanderson.

She responded by booting clear and went on to score comfortably from Deputy Duke and Regio.

Trainer Adam Trinder said the Nikki Burke-owned mare had been a “work in progress” since arriving in Tasmania about six months ago.

“The mare suffered from travel sickness from the trip over to Tasmania so we had to tip her out for three months to recover and then there were some other issues,” Trinder said.
