ABOUT nine months ago Alison Walker produced a winner with the first dog she presented at the races so it should come as no surprise that she’s now preparing doubles to stake her claim as promising young trainer.

In Hobart last Thursday night she produced litter sisters Trendy Moss and Bombtrack Moss to win convincingly and signal their arrival as future feature race winners.

Trendy Moss showed great courage and determination to outgun her rivals in a strong grade four event over 461 metres.

It was only her fifth career win but one that convinced Walker she was on the improve.

Bombtrack Moss also showed much improvement, especially at the start and she too cruised to a convincing win, albeit by less than a length over quality bitch Fine Line and First Alarm.

The wins were special because Walker’s brother Clint, who is a part-owner in both dogs, was on track to see the wins.

“My brother is over from Western Australia and for them both to win while he was here is brilliant,” Walker said.

“He has been over two weeks and goes home tomorrow (Friday) so it was a great way to end his holiday,” she said.

Trendy Moss and Bombtrack Moss (Trendy Leigh-Blackberry Moss) have been mixing their form primarily because of inconsistency from the boxes but Waker is confident that trait may soon be a thing of the past.

“Both these dogs had poor box manners early on but they are getting a lot better and tonight they both jumped well and it made all the difference,” she said.

The wins were special also because she raised the pair as part of a litter of seven.

“I’ve had these since they were four months old and when you get them so young it makes it all that more enjoyable when they win,” she said.

Trendy Moss and Bombtrack Moss are on lightly framed bitches weighing in at just under 26kg.

“Both these bitches are tiny but they are strong and that makes up for their slight frames,” she said.

Walker believes both bitches have what it takes to win a feature race or two.

“I entered them in the Lady’s Bracelet and they were competitive but now that they are starting to begin a lot better and more consistently I reckon at least one of them can win a feature race not far down the track,” she said.

Trendy Moss has won five from 22 starts but has also notched nine minor placings for about $8000 in stakes while Bombtrack Moss is a winner of four and has a half-dozen placings to her credit from only 16 outings.
