WESTERN HERO will be aimed at the rich two-year-old races later this season following an impressive win in the $25,000 Alexandra Plate at Tattersall’s Park over 900 metres in Hobart on Sunday.
The Terry Evans-trained gelding showed good early speed to lead and when challenged seriously by promising filly Little Sheeka at the business end of the race he had enough in reserve to hold on for a convincing win.
Western Hero won the first two-year-old race of the season two weeks earlier over the same distance and Evans said the gelded son of West Quest-Horkins Nancy was going about his business like a seasoned professional.
The gelding is owned and raced by the Horse Racing Tragics Two syndicate that also race Oxy Angel that is soon to resume as a three-year-old.
