TALENTED three-year-old gelding What Life Brings signalled his arrival as one of the state’s most promising gallopers when he scored a courageous win in the Betfair Hobart Guineas over 2100 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
What Life Brings outgunned a courageous Kenjorwood over the concluding stages for what was their first test beyond 1600 metres.
It was a slowly run race early with Added Bonus sharing the lead with Alarmist to the 500-metre peg where the complexion of the race changed dramatically with the swoopers staking their claims.
Kenjorwood (Craig Newitt) headed What Life Brings in the home straight and looked set to cruise to victory but What Life Brings refused to wilt and gave his all to go on and score by a half-length from Kenjorwood with a gallant Ollie’s Gold a distant third ahead of Keep The Cash.
What Life Brings, trained by David and Scott Brunton, was third to Mister John in the Tasmanian Guineas over 1600 metres at his previous outing in which Kenjorwood ran second and edged out What Life Brings in head-bobbing finish for second place.
