In Brief

  • Heaven's Delight best of White's two in Launceston tonight.
  • Gear change for Lord Wimborne.
  • Faithful owners being rewarded for loyalty.

Gary White snared a double at last Wednesday Launceston night’s meeting and he could walk away with at least one win from the two he saddles up tonight.

White has Lord Wimborne engaged in the opening event on the eight-race card, a maiden over 1400 metres, where the four-year-old is the $101 rank outsider but his talented five-year-old mare Heaven’s Delight will start one of the favourites to win race five, a benchmark 66 handicap over 1400 metres.

Heaven’s Delight comes off a last-start win in a benchmark 60 over 1220m two weeks ago and while this is a step up in grade, she drops in weight and will start from an ideal barrier (2).

“I couldn’t be happier with how Heaven’s Delight has done since her last win and even though she is up in class, she is a very capable galloper that has returned to racing in the best shape of her career,” White said.

“I also have Lord Wimborne in a maiden (race 1) but so far he has proven to be a wonderful track worker but has failed to flatter on race days but we’ve changed some head gear and hopefully it will allow him to perform in the race like he does on the training track.”

White prepared two winners last week, Paion and Remigny, both of which are owned and raced by David and Louise Adams, arguably White’s most loyal stable clients.
