LONGFORD trainer John Blacker has shelved plans to take his talented mare With Decorum to Melbourne on a hit and run mission this Saturday.
With Decorum was nominated to run in the Travis Harrison Cup over 1514 metres at MooneeValley in which she had been allotted top weight of 59kg.
“We were all set to go but yesterday her track gallop was well below what I expected and I think she may be coming down with a cold of something so I pulled the pin (on the trip),” Blacker said.
“We’ll have her bloods done and see where she’s at but we may still head across the water further down the track,” he said.
Saturday’s race was restricted to fillies and mares and talented apprentice Nathan Rose had been booked for the ride.
With Decorum scored a brilliant win in the Devonport Cup in January but her form leading up to now has been ordinary, although it has been in unsuitable races.
The mare’s owners are keen to have the mare win in Melbourne as it will enhance her value as a broodmare.
Her stake earnings are approaching $250,000 so her credentials as a broodmare are already impressive.
