A STRIKING filly by Written Tycoon was one of the most impressive trial winners at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
Tycoon Gypsy, prepared at Longford by John Blacker, gave her rivals a galloping lesson on her way to an 8-3/4 length win over the Stephen Lockhart-trained Matiano and Delzangles that hit the line almost in sync.
Tycoon Gypsy (Written Tycoon-Celestial Gypsy) settled well for stable apprentice Georgie Catania, while Matiano (Bulent Muhcu) was content to race one-off without cover to the home turn.
But when Catania allowed her filly more rein she skipped clear and went to the line without being fully extended.
She stopped the clock at 58.87 with a last 600m of 35.24 but she could have clipped a bit off that time had the rider fully extended the flashy filly.
