Entries for Thursday night’s heats of the Wynburn Sheean Tasbred in Hobart have drawn some notable performers who will compete in the Grade 5 series over 461 metres.
Two heats will take place on Thursday with the first four placegetters of each event qualifying through for next week’s $7,420 final.
The most evenly matched heat is undoubtedly the first, featuring Devonport Breeders Classic placegetters Bedale and Bedworth, who are lining up in the race for trainer Debbie Cannan.
Inherited Charm wins a heat of the 2024 Devonport Breeders Classic.
Bedale is the favourite at $1.80 from box 1 over the litter mate Bedworth at $3 from box 2. Interrogation, a winner of five races out of 21 starts, looks well placed in box 3.
From 11 starts, Bedale has recorded three wins and four minor placings. The daughter of Shima Shine was also a previous winner at this track and distance, clocking 25.97 seconds to win a semi-final of the Devonport Breeders on 17 December.
In the second heat, Tasmanian Hall of Fame trainer Gary Fahey will have the promising youngster Inherited Charm starting from box 8 as the $1.35 favourite, seeking his third career victory.
The son of Feral Franky is positioned well from the outside but will face strong competition from Unlikely Danger in box 2 and Love Is Gone in box 1.
Wynburn Sheean, who was inducted into the Tasmanian Greyhound Hall of Fame last year, has been honorued for the second time with the series.
This race was won last year in Launceston by Thor Danger.
